GrassPROMDB :: Promoter Sequence Database

Welcome to Promoter Sequence Database

GrassPROMDB, the promoter database for the grasses, is designed to provide a collection of sequences for promoters from maize, sugarcane, sorghum and rice. In these promoters, experimentally verified cis-regulatory elements (CREs), presumably recognized by transcription factors, are indicated. GrassPROMDB will initially integrate experimentally known CREs in the few promoters that have so far been dissected in detail in some of these grasses, and assess their sequence conservation across orthologous promoters. As the project progresses, GrassPROMDB is expected to integrate gene expression data and transcription factor ChIP-Seq results to identify clusters of direct target genes for specific transcription factors.

GrassPROMDB can be queried in a number of different ways. For example, all promoters in one species can be listed in the "Browse Promoters" section. A promoter carrying a particular sequence motif or targeted by a particular transcription factor can be queried in the "Search" section, and available promoters can be queried by their gene IDs or by BLAST. A promoter carrying a particular sequence motif or targeted by a particular transcription factor can be queried as well. Promoters will be grouped into biological process or pathways according to the functions of the corresponding genes. The information page for each promoter indicates location of known cis-regulatory elements, their sequence and finally the name of the transcription factor(s) targeting corresponding sequence, along with a link to GrassTFDB for additional information.
